Jordan Farmar will sit out at least three games because of a torn meniscus in his left knee, forcing Coach Phil Jackson to shuffle the responsibilities of the Lakers’ backcourt.
The backup guard was injured after stealing the ball and going in for a layup in the fourth quarter of Friday’s game against Miami.
Farmar sat out Saturday’s game against Orlando, will return to Los Angeles today and will be examined by doctors Monday, at which point a status update will be issued by the team.
Depending on the severity of the tear, Farmar might need surgery, though he was reluctant to think that far ahead to a procedure that would probably cost him four to eight weeks of playing time.
“Sometimes it’s good to get away from the game,” Farmar said. “Just sit back and watch and come back when you’re healthy, with a vengeance to make up for lost time.
“That’s what I remember in high school when I broke my foot. I was struggling. I had to watch my teammates play. But I learned so much that year. When I came back out, I was a different player.”

Hi Jordan,
I’m sorry to hear about your injury, but I pray that you will heal quickly and that whatever decision you make on whether or not to have surgery that you will have wisdom. Enjoy this time off and the Holidays with your family. You will be missed but I’m sure you will be back in no time.
Take Care and God bless!

Hey Jordan! I just want to let you know that we are thinking of you and wishing you the best during this little bump in the road. It sucks, but I know you will get through this. Get your rest and know that we’ll miss you on the court… But, just like you said, that upon your return, you’re going to come back healthy and strong and getting back out there with a vegeance to make up for lost time…I can see it now, FARMAR ACTION! ;D Can’t wait…Get your much needed rest! love you JFARM!
